About Mugello Race Track

The Mugello track has a lengthy history dating back to the 1914 road race. It began as a regular event but was disrupted by World War I, only to resume thereafter. The circuit rose to prominence during the 1920s, when elite drivers battled on the demanding 66-kilometer road route. The competition included legends like Campari, Brilli Peri, Ascari, and Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari’s triumph in 1921 in an Alfa Romeo cemented the track is legendary reputation. By 1929, the Mille Miglia’s expanding importance eclipsed the Mugello road race, and the rivalry vanished.

The Mugello track received renewed attention in the 1960s as interest in road races grew. Pasquale Borracci and Amos Pampaloni were key in the resurgence. The track staged successful events throughout the decade, attracting big crowds to watch exceptional racing feats. In a historic duel in 1968, Alfa Romeo defeated Porsche in a stunning comeback.
